Gala & Fundraiser Photography in New York City

Gala & Fundraiser Photographers for New York's Biggest Nights
A gala is one night to do everything at once — honor your honorees, recognize your donors, move the room emotionally, and produce the imagery that fuels next year’s campaign. Photography sits at the center of all of it. Event Photography NYC has photographed galas and fundraisers across Manhattan and Long Island — from professional association anniversary events to mission-driven nonprofit benefits and golf fundraisers — including work for the New York State Society of CPAs, Voices Center for Resilience, the SNACC Program, and Smile Farms. The brief is consistent: candid, dignified coverage that respects the room and delivers the images your development, marketing, and board communications teams will use long after the lights come up. If you need an experienced gala photographer in NYC, we’re the team your event deserves.

Add video to your gala coverage
Most galas are photography-first events — the recap deck, the donor thank-yous, the annual report all run on stills. But if you’re producing a recap video for next year’s solicitation, capturing the honoree’s acceptance speech for archival use, or building content for the foundation’s website, gala videography is available as an add-on.
If you need both photo and video, we’ll bring a dedicated videographer alongside the photo team so coverage is thorough and nothing gets missed. Booking together means one team coordinating both, no double-booking conflicts, and a unified visual style across everything you publish after the event. Gala video is quoted by project — mention it when you check availability.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you handle honoree and donor portraits during the program?
Yes — and the key is planning them. Most galas have 10 to 15 minutes during cocktail hour or between dinner courses where formal portraits with honorees, board chairs, and major donors need to happen efficiently. We’ll work with your event team in advance to build a shot list and a flow, so the right people are in the right place at the right time without slowing the evening down.
Can you photograph the auction or paddle raise?
Yes. Live auction and paddle raise coverage is one of the more important parts of a fundraising gala — both for the energy it captures and for the development team’s documentation of donor giving moments. We shoot the bidders, the auctioneer, the room reactions, and the totals on screen when applicable.
How quickly will I get the photos after my gala?
Standard turnaround is 3 to 5 business days. If you need a small selection sooner — for a next-day donor thank-you email or a recap going out within 24 hours — same-day editing is available as an add-on. We’ll flag the recommended option when you book.
Do I need one photographer or two?
For most galas under 250 guests with a single program flow, one photographer can cover everything. For larger events, multi-room programs, or galas where formal portraits and live coverage need to happen simultaneously, a second photographer ensures nothing gets missed. We’ll tell you honestly which one your event needs.
Do you cover golf fundraisers and non-traditional fundraising events?
Yes. Fundraising doesn’t only happen in ballrooms — golf outings, invitational tournaments, and outdoor fundraising events are increasingly common, and they have their own photography requirements. Course coverage, foursome group photos, awards reception, and donor recognition moments all need to be planned around the day’s flow. We’ve shot fundraising events at Long Island country clubs and can scope coverage for any non-traditional fundraiser format.
What venues in NYC have you worked at?
Past gala coverage includes work at venues like the New York Athletic Club and the Museum of Modern Art, along with hotel ballrooms and event spaces across Manhattan. Familiarity with members-only clubs and major cultural institutions matters — both venue types have specific access, vendor, and equipment rules that take experience to navigate cleanly.
Do I get full usage rights to the photos?
Yes. Every gala client gets full rights for development communications, marketing, annual reports, donor recognition materials, social media, and editorial use. The only ask is photographer credit if images go to press outlets, which is standard.
